KAO Production was founded by Jean-Francois Fortin in 2002. What started as a simple Industrial/gothic night (Replikant/Elysium) quickly became Montreal's most attended venue for these kind of live performances. Helped by a strong team, KAO Production reestablish Montreal as one of the major cities in North America for Industrial/EBM/Gothic live performances.

The first significant event to take the scene by storm was the Hocico/Haujobb tour (metropolis records), this concert was groundbreaking in the eyes of majors labels. 2002 marked a brilliant start. KAO Production achieved to bring on stage such accomplished artists as: WesternDream, Psyche, Headscan, Decoded Feedback, Mind Confusion, Cut.Rate.Box, Battery Cage, Hocico, Haujobb & Terrorfakt.

2003 was a year to remember for the Montreal scene. KAO Production achieved to bring a record number of bands in Montreal. The year started with the KAO Production first year anniversary, with a special Easter party with Horrorist/Acrosome and Things to come records DJ's. The following month, Covenant (Sony records artist) with an assistance of more than 500 people shown that Montreal was still very alive. After this, KAO Production focused on their next move : the first Funker Vogt Canadian Tour ever. All accross Canada : Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto and Montreal. This tour was a total success. With a more than 20 original acts for 2003; Horrorist, Acrosome, Flesh Field, Covenant, Melotron, Funker Vogt, Terrorfakt, Epsilon Minus, Decoded Feedback, God Module, Assemblage 23, Culture Kultur, Headscan, Mentat, Cruxshadows, S.V.D., E-Craft, Razed in Black, Glis & Ayria, 2003 will be a year to remember.

At the end of 2003, KAO Production decided to change the format of the Replikant nights. To make it more accessible, a new day and bar was chosen to continue the evolution of the Replikant project. This new night, Replikant V2.0 at Club Saphir, now every Saturday, gave the chance to add more “permanent” dj's to the already strong KAO Production team. Helped by Dj Blackpaps, Mentat, Nachtengel, Brainstormer, dj Kaotik gave to Montreal the only weekly industrial/EBM nights, with live shows, release parties and other special events.

2004 bring a new reality to the production of shows in Mtl; big production companies. Most of 2004 "industrial" shows now taken and well produced by big productions, KAO Production keep is attention on is weekly industrial night, having the perfect playground to make discover new groups to Mtl Still produced quality shows during the year ( Perfection Plastic, Corrupted Suburbs, Headscan, M3N7A7, Re_Agent, Psyche, Ayria, Icon of Coil, The Cruxshadows, Terrorfakt & Manufactura ) and good special events like "La grande Mascarade", a Halloween special, produced with Groupe Spectra, KAO Production keep is original task, keep Mtl up to date with the new breed of EBM/Industrial music.

Following the evolution of the show production reality in North America (less tours produced by record labels), Kao Production decided to concentrate on shows that would be exclusive to Montreal. Work started on various productions from 2005 to 2007 in effort to bring something new to Montreal.

After collaborating on the C.O.M.A. festival in 2006 and 2007, KAO Production gave birth to what would become the biggest North American Electro-Industrial festival; the Kinetik Festival. Produced under Kinetik Productions since 2008, this festival has proven that North America had the means to create a festival worthy of the biggest festivals of Europe.
