The Canadian, Montreal-based duo Headscan fuses futuristic dancefloor music with dark cinematographic soundscapes, meshing these elements into a smooth, hypnotic sound. The group combines the best elements of trance and electro industrial resulting in a sound that is fresh and exciting, while holding true to its predecessors in electronic music.

Claude Charnier (music) & Christian Pomerleau (vocal and visual) have been active in Montreal's local alternative music scene for some years now, playing a hard and intense mix of electronic and acoustic music. Signed to Artoffact Records in 2001, they released their first album entitled Shaper and Mechanist to worldwide acclaim. Dark moods, electronic voices, bubbling basses, and relentless beats create a futuristic soundscape for the new dark ages inspired in parts by the writings of science-fiction author Bruce Sterling while resonating with the sounds of electro architects Daniel Myer, Uwe Schmidt, and others.

Headscan have been sought after as remixers for artists around the world including Psyche, Interlace, Negative Format, Aiboforcen, and most recently Germany’s Solitary Experiments. In 2002, Headscan worked with Belgian techno outfit Implant on a split release for Artoffact’s successful Uturn Series. This last release saw them collaborating with Montreal’s own DAT Machine for a high energy club track unparalleled in modern electronic music.

2003 saw Headscan appearing for a second time at Montreal’s Elektra Festival along with Vromb and Anthony Rother, playing shows with the likes of Assemblage 23, Dark Soho, and Clear Vision, as well as performing at New York’s CMJ Festival with Haujobb and Hocico. Always ready to stretch preconceived notions of performance art, Headscan’s live experience has included synched video projections, stunning light displays, live dance, spoken word, and ferocious, high-definition imagery.

Following these successes, Headscan took a short break from live entertainment to work in their studio on the upcoming album, Pattern Recognition. Tracks from this new work, as well as many favorite, will be showcased at their upcoming show on July 11th.

As the continuous onslaught of modern technology breaks down the barriers of culture and geography, the public domain becomes embedded in our collective mind; where the spirit meets the mechanical.

This Canadian act combines twisted electronic textures, exploring touching soundscapes while mixing styles as EBM and Industrial with a rich undeniable classical touch. From elements inspired by modern composers to masters of the actual ebm-industrial scene, Guillaume’s main project M3N7A7 presents the results of several years of unique programming using complex technoish influences sparingly.

His sonic adventure began at a very young age, while kids were listening to pop music he deepened his musical interests to an other level. Perpetually surrounded with art, he found himself emerged in creativity and continued his musical growth by studying fine arts & piano. It was preclusive to what would become, over the years, his main passion.

M3N7A7’s consistent strive for different anthems lead him to forge an harsher aggressive sideproject called Memmaker. This provocative, violently but highly danceable power-noise project accomplishes to make your body move with brutal controversial mental imageries.

For their official debut in September 2003, the band opened for the most talented Assemblage 23 in cooperation with Spanish based Cultur Kultur and another brilliant Montreal act: Headscan. On stage, Guillaume is supported by long time friend & partner in crime the energetic and talented Jon. Together, they present a unique performance: An assortment of powerful electronic sound and a contagious ambiance of celebration, leaving their own mark and redefining what a good time is.

The band’s vibrant energy, addictive rhythms allied with emotional lyrics will appeal to most and M3N7A7’s melodies will, for sure, haunt you for a while.
